When you were young, you had no trouble trusting yourself completely. Children play without a care in the world. They don’t worry about whether they are managing their time effectively as they jump off a swing for the fifteenth time. They don’t wonder if they could do more than just try to build sandcastles. They do what makes them happy, the thing that makes them feel joy in the moment is what they do! It’s easy.
Unfortunately, we lose that feeling. Quickly. From the moment we first step through the gates at school. Your body is telling you to visit the restroom, but you must hold it because the teacher won’t let you go until recess. We reach a point where we constantly shush our body’s natural instincts and rhythms. We suffocate them into silence.
Then, adulthood arrives. Finally, it’s your time. Everyone tells you to trust your instincts, to follow your gut. It’s too late. You aren’t connected to it anymore because you’ve been encouraged to stifle it for years. How can you trust yourself when you don’t a thing about you?
Spiritual wellness.
Now, there are three key practices that you can use to increase your faith in self as well as your spiritual wellness.
- Meditation
There is no better way to strengthen your connection with self than to allow your mind to turn inward and explore your deepest thoughts, wants, and desires.
- Gratitude
Gratitude is great, but for increasing faith in self make sure to list things about you that you’re grateful for.
- Connection
The people you spend your time with can tear you down or they can lift you up. What type of people do you surround yourself with? Choose carefully.
